Gossip: Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea in for Spain attacker
LIVERPOOL, CHELSEA AND ARSENAL IN FOR VAZQUEZ
Having been told that Liverpool want to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid this summer, we’re now expected to believe that they will make their move for another Real attacker. Seems unlikely eh.
Spanish newspaper Marca mention the Asensio story, but also say that Jurgen Klopp would like to sign Lucas Vazquez. Vazquez is likely to be struggling for first-team minutes at the Bernabeu this season, and is reportedly interested in offers from outside Spain.
Marca also reckon that Liverpool will face competition for Vazquez from Arsenal and Chelsea. Surely Arsenal have enough attacking options now, and surely Chelsea sort out their bloody managerial situation?
There is no mention of possible transfer fee in the article, but Vazquez is 27. We’re going to take a stab in the dark at £35m.
TORREIRA IS ON IS WAY TO ARSENAL
The name of Lucas Torreira has been continually linked with Arsenal over the last two weeks, and we’ve been told the deal is nearly done for a few days. It’s finally, finally happening.
In fairness, Torreira has been busy being pretty bloody brilliant at the World Cup. He didn’t Uruguay’s first group game, but was magnificent as a defensive against Portugal. This could be exactly what Arsenal need.
The Mail on Sunday say that Torreira will cost £25m and the 22-year-old will be confirmed as an Arsenal player next week. That’s an absolutely wonderful price, given the evidence we have seen in Russia.
MAN UNITED TO MAKE BONUCCI MOVE
It’s a rumour that has been lingering for a day or two, but seems to be gathering pace after Milan’s ban from European football was confirmed. Manchester United need a central defender and Leonardo Bonucci wants Champions League football at his age. ‘At his age’ makes it sound like he fought in the war.
The Sun are the latest to push the story. They say that Milan will be forced to sell a number of players to meet FFP criteria next time, and that Bonucci is likely to form part of this mini firesale. He cost Milan £35m last summer and is now 31, but if they could make their money back it is seen as a clever option.
Also, it would be bloody great to see him in England. Bring it on.
AND THE REST
Chelsea are ready to appoint new boss Maurizio Sarri as early as Monday… Burnley are looking at former West Ham centre-back James Collins… Fulham are set to launch a fresh £14m bid for Wolves winger Ivan Cavaleiro… Swansea striker Wilfried Bony could join Besiktas… Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be offered first-team football by Chelsea next season.
