All the futuristic stuff the movies promised we'd have by now (and lied about)

One of the joys of watching movies with a sci-fi twist is getting a peek at the technology we’ll all be using one day in the real world.

We’re not talking about those films that set their sights in the far-distant future, but those that take our existing world and add something amazing to it.

Movies have been promising us super-slick, mega-useful kit since they first began. We take a look at those wonderful toys – as Jack Nicholson would describe them – that are supposed to exist in our world now. Where’s our invisible car!
