Fallon vs. Trump

Of all the late-night hosts, Jimmy Fallon hasn’t been especially known for attacking President Trump. But after Fallon said in an interview that he regretted tousling Trump’s hair during the 2016 campaign, Trump came at him on Twitter.

Fallon responded Monday on “The Tonight Show,” scolding the president for taking time out of his schedule to pick fights on social media.

“When I saw that Trump insulted me on Twitter, I was going to tweet back immediately, but I thought, ‘I have more important things to do.’ Then I thought, ‘Wait, shouldn’t he have more important things to do? He’s the president of the United States.’ What are you doing! You’re the president! Why are you tweeting at me?” — JIMMY FALLON

“As you may have heard, last night the president of the United States went after me on Twitter. So Melania, if you’re watching, I don’t think your antibullying campaign is working.” — JIMMY FALLON

“The president went after me on Twitter: That’s pretty much the only thing I have in common with NFL players.” — JIMMY FALLON

Restaurant Wars

The late-night hosts were eager to jump on a story about Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, being denied service at a restaurant in Virginia.

“Hucka-Sands went out for dinner with her husband and some friends. The staff recognized her and called the owner, who gathered everyone in the back and allowed employees to vote on whether to boot Huckabee Sanders out of the restaurant. Oh good, so, someone’s getting due process.” — STEPHEN COLBERT, referring to President Trump’s recent call to deny unauthorized immigrants due process

“A Virginia restaurant tossed Sarah Huckabee Sanders out and refused her service. I know you guys are cheering, but I’m sorry, I think that was the wrong thing to do. I think what the restaurant should have done is treated her the same way she treats the press. Yeah, they should have just brought her an empty plate and then when she goes, ‘Where is my food?’ you go, ‘Oh, it’s right there.’” — TREVOR NOAH

“White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked to leave a restaurant in Virginia on Friday because she worked for the Trump administration. Which is weird, because usually people who work for the Trump administration are asked to leave the Trump administration.” — SETH MEYERS

The Bits Worth Watching

Stephen Colbert has a few ideas of his own about how to commemorate the Trump administration’s most memorable moments.

Desus and Mero talked about a viral video showing a white woman reporting a young black girl to the authorities for selling water without a permit.

What We’re Excited About on Tuesday Night

The actor and comic Nick Kroll, whose newest movie, “Uncle Drew,” is in theaters now, sits down with Seth Meyers on Tuesday.
