Aspiring rapper Lil Buzz fatally shot in Richmond
RICHMOND — A 21-year-old aspiring rapper who already had garnered a large following died in a shooting Sunday night, police said.
Richard Doss, whom authorities believe last was living in Union City, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers arrived at 23rd and Bartlett streets around 8:45 p.m., police spokesman Lt. Felix Tan said.

He did not immediately verify with this newspaper other media accounts of the shooting that indicated Doss was in a vehicle when police arrived.
The homicide is the seventh one investigated by police in this city in 2018.
Several social media postings in reaction to the shooting indicated Doss also was known as Lil Buzz, an up-and-coming rap artist.

Doss “styles on the instrumental and explains that he keeps it true to code,” according to a May review of his contribution to the single “Lock you Down” by thizzler.com, a blog by an Oakland-based company dedicated to hip hop and rap, interviewing artists and putting together mixtapes.
Thizzler also reported in January that his Doss’ debut album “Ballads of a Young Playa” came after he had “created a nice wave for himself over the past 10 months with a number of dope singles …”
