Miss Gallatin is representing her city well in the preliminary competition at the 2018 Miss Tennessee Pageant.
Thursday night, Samantha Havenstrite, 19, won the preliminary lifestyle and fitness award.
Havenstrite said she’s put a lot of work into being able to compete in the lifestyle and fitness competition.
“I had to make a pretty big comeback after eating out a lot my freshman year,” Havenstrite said. “I didn’t weigh myself before school started, and I don’t necessarily go by weight.
“I just try to commit to good health as much as I can and live that kind of a lifestyle to stay fit.”
Havenstrite, a sophomore at Southern Methodist University, will compete tonight in evening gown and onstage question competitions.
