Giant Food partners with Ripken Baseball Clinic to promote healthier lifestyle for youth

GAITHERSBURG, Md. – Wednesday night, Giant Food partnered with the Ripken Baseball Clinic to promote fit and healthy lifestyles for children in the community.

The free program had workshops for kids ages 7-12 to get out and play, as well as teach proper nutrition. There were instructors from the Ripken Clinic teaching the young players the basics of baseball. After the exercises, there was a nutritionist on site showing the kids different options for fruit, vegetables, grains, protein and dairy.

“Kids are the future of our country,” said Giant Food Nutritionist, Thu Huynh, “and to teach them healthy eating, and a healthy lifestyle, at an early age will really help to promote them to carry that on in their lifestyle.”

This summer, Giant Food will have several youth baseball clinics throughout the region.
