The restaurant empire of India’s famed chef Sanjeev Kapoor has finally expanded to Silicon Valley.
Santa Clara’s Monticello, a retail/housing complex, is the home of the second Yellow Chilli in the United States. The first was built in Buena Park in Southern California.
Chef-entrepreneur Kapoor operates India’s first 24-hour TV food network and hosts Asia’s longest-running show, “Khana Khazana,” says the Times of Oman, which profiled Kapoor during his expansion there.
His Yellow Chilli menu has been called a gastronomic tour of India, with signature dishes from throughout the vast country, reviews say. Among the dishes he is known for:
Tariwala Murgh: A version of chicken curry from a noted roadside restaurant along the Delhi-Ambala Road.
Lalla Mussa Dal: A dish of green and black lentils simmered overnight that is believed to have originated in the northwestern frontier province.
Gulab-e-Gulkand: Soft balls of condensed milk stuffed with candied rose petals.
