Huma Abedin has become close pals with someone whose high-profile husband is even more of a creep than her own — Harvey Weinstein’s soon-to-be-ex-wife, Georgina Chapman.
Abedin, the long-suffering spouse of serial sexter Anthony Weiner, told Vogue the two were already friendly because their sons went on playdates, but once the Weinstein news broke, “We just . . . bonded. In allll kinds of ways.”
“This particular club, ironically it’s not such a small one: women who have had to endure it all in such a public way, women like Georgina and me,” the former Hillary Clinton aide told the June issue of the magazine, released Thursday.
“People don’t feel sorry for us; you don’t get that empathy. People think you’re beautiful, you’re thin, you’re rich, you’re photographed on the red carpet, and you get stuck in this category. There’s so much more depth beyond all that with Georgina.”
Abedin said that behind closed doors, the Marchesa fashion designer is just a “funny and goofy” mom.
“She’s at the stove making chicken fingers and French fries, and she’s one of the realest people I know,” she said. “There’s nothing entitled about her. You believe she is someone who works really hard at being a good and present mom, and doing her job really well.”
Abedin’s disgraced politician husband was sentenced in September to 21 months in prison for sexting with a 15-year-old girl — just weeks before the first allegations of Weinstein’s creepy casting couch hit the headlines.
Chapman described for Vogue the feeling of discovering her husband is a sexual predator.
“I was so humiliated and so broken,” she said.
Chapman, 42, claimed it took “about two days” to absorb the information. “My head was spinning,” she said, adding that she lost 10 pounds in five days.
“And it was difficult because the first article was about a time long before I’d ever met him, so there was a minute where I couldn’t make an informed decision.
“And then the stories expanded and I realized that this wasn’t an isolated incident. And I knew that I needed to step away and take the kids out of here,” she continued.
Chapman, who has two kids with Weinstein aged 7 and 5, says they fled New York for LA and then London, and she didn’t go out in public for five months.
“[I] didn’t think it was respectful to go out,” she said.
“I thought, Who am I to be parading around with all of this going on?”
She insisted she had no idea about what Weinstein was up to until dozens of women came forward saying he’d harassed, assaulted or raped them.
“I had what I thought was a very happy marriage. I loved my life,” she said.
“There was a part of me that was terribly naive — clearly, so naive. I have moments of rage, I have moments of confusion, I have moments of disbelief!”
Chapman is now planning on moving to an upstate farm with her kids, but is worried about how their dad’s actions will affect them in the future.
“What are people going to say to them?” she sobbed to the magazine.
“It’s like, they love their dad . . . I just can’t bear it for them!”
