Gossip: Arsenal, Man United target 'favours' Liverpool

DON’T BANKS ON IT
It seems that Tottenham are interested in throwing their money around this summer – or at least a healthy portion of it. There were claims of the north London club spending £145m on three players last week, and they are adding two more to the list to carry their summer outlay over £200m.

Tony Banks of the Daily Express says that Tottenham want Alfie Mawson – rated at around £40m and also interesting Manchester United – and Ryan Bertrand. Southampton would want close to £25m for the left-back, whether or not they go down. Bertrand is said to be wanted by United, Newcastle and Wolves. What a strange selection of teams.

Over at the Daily Star, they have some slightly different numbers. They say ‘a £30m sale would represent a healthy profit’ for Southampton on Bertrand, while Swansea ‘have put a £50m price tag’ on Mawson. So that’s an extra £15m from out of nowhere.

SILVA LINING
We appear to have gone back in time to October, because Goal are reporting that Everton want Marco Silva as their manager. Sam Allardyce will be seething.

Everton targeted Silva back when he was Watford manager, culminating in the Portuguese taking his eye off the ball and eventually being sacked by the Hornets. But Goal say he ‘is among the options’ in terms of long-term, permanent managers.

Allardyce has stated that he will be at Goodison Park next season, but Everton are said to ‘want to keep their options open for a little longer’. Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is fighting Silva’s corner, while chairman Bill Kenwright wants Eddie Howe from Bournemouth.

Moshiri has the ‘greater influence’ however, and Silva ‘will likely be back in management next season’. At Everton? Who knows.

CHRISTIAN BAIL
According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool want to ‘make it third time lucky’ in their attempts to sign Christian Pulisic. An £11m bid was rejected in summer 2016, with a further move shelved too. To complete the hat-trick, Jurgen Klopp will reignite his interest.

We had heard little from Pulisic during another solid year of first-team football at Dortmund until Thursday. Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc piped up to say that he “know nothing” about the fresh rumours. But Liverpool have ‘continued to monitor his progress’ since they first laid eyes on the teenager.

‘Arsenal’s new head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat is also interested in the player,’ Manchester United ‘are also keeping tabs on’ him and Bayern Munich ‘have also been watching’. But Pulisic ‘is thought to favour a move to Anfield’.
