It may be the 30th anniversary of the ever opulent Barnstable Brown Derby Eve Gala held in the private Highlands home of Patricia Barnstable-Brown, but the party hostess doesn’t care much about rehashing the past — at the moment.

Barnstable-Brown and her twin sister, Priscilla “Cyb” Barnstable, are far more excited about the breathtaking celebrity guest list they’ve assembled for this year’s black-tie bash.

“I can already see Kid Rock, Nikki Sixx, Salt-N-Pepa and DJ Spinderella, Richie Sambora, Brooks and Dunn — all up on stage,” Barnstable-Brown said. “I mean all of them together, can you imagine!”

Of course, for a legendary party with a musical entertainment bent like this one, those eight artists are just the tip of the Kentucky Derby Eve iceberg. The Barnstable Brown gala is known for its magical musical mashups. Each year, musicians from rock and roll, R&B and country jump on stage and perform side-by-side for a one-of-a-kind performance.

The 2018 announcement includes more than 40 celebrities from film, television, music and sports, including everybody’s favorite dad from ABC’s “Modern Family,” who is coming to the mansion at 1700 Spring Drive on Friday.

“We are thrilled to host Ty Burell for his first Kentucky Derby,” Barnstable-Brown said.

The sisters will also welcome heartthrob actor and model Taylor Kitsch, and “bad boy” singer Bobby Brown.

“I wouldn’t have put money on Bobby Brown actually showing up, but he’s just sent word that he’s taking a red-eye flight after finishing a concert,” Barnstable-Brown said. “He really wants to be here.”

The sisters spend months organizing the perfect Kentucky Derby party, inviting Hollywood celebrities like actor Stephen Amell and talk show host Aisha Tyler. The party is a longtime favorite for sports superstars like Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his teammates. Denver Broncos’ linebacker Von Miller will also attend.

But is the classically lavish event ready for the over-the-top antics that stuntman and comedian Johnny Knoxville, probably best known for the “Jackass” franchise, may bring to the party?

“I don’t know what is going to happen,” laughs Barnstable-Brown when asked about Knoxville. “I have never had a celebrity guest who asked me for a list of limitations!”

Undaunted and always ready for whatever surprises unfold at their legendary star-laden party, the sisters have 30 years of experience on how to handle anything — so they’re ready to find out if that includes whatever Knoxville has up his sleeve.

The Barnstable-Brown Derby Eve Gala annually welcomes approximately 1,200 guests to the invitation-only event. Crowds of fans line the street outside the mansion as stars arrive to walk the red carpet starting at dusk, a tradition that has shined a spotlight on Louisville and the Kentucky Derby for three decades.

“I think about all the people who have walked through the front door of my home,” Barnstable-Brown previously said. “Rod Stewart, Janet Jackson, Lloyd Bridges. It just feels very special that they come to my house.”

The Kentucky Derby Eve party has raised more than $13 million for diabetes research.
