After many calls asking if she has a mobile service for dog grooming, Jenilee McFarland got tired of saying no.
McFarland’s company, LeeLee’s Dog House, will now bring dog grooming to her customers as she offers mobile dog grooming for the first time in her seven years in business. She said she is looking to serve the entire Western Slope of Colorado.
“I realized the demand was out there. Plus I really love being up in the mountains and this could be a way to get up there,” she said. “And this is just a way to change things up.”
McFarland will also keep her grooming facility in back of her home near 30 Road and the Interstate 70 Business Loop for those who want to bring their dogs by for a trim. For mobile services she has a truck that pulls a trailer. The trailer is fully equipped for grooming and does not need to be hooked up to a water source on site.
LeeLee’s provides grooming for dogs only and can handle shampoo, conditioner, drying, nails, de-shedding or a desired cut.
The business is open Monday through Saturday by appointment only. For more information, call 462-1577. McFarland said she has flexible hours.
Mobile services in Grand Junction will cost $55 for the first dog and $45 for the second dog. Prices out of town may vary. She is also offering $10 off for first-time customers.
“I just really always loved dogs,” McFarland said of why she got into the business. “I still believe that dogs know when you love them and they love you back. It hasn’t proved me wrong yet. It’s just the right business for me.”
■ Sunset magazine named Fruita one of the 10 best biking towns of the West in a recent issue.
The monthly lifestyle magazine ranked the mountain biking haven No. 8, behind the likes of Portland, Oregon; Boulder, Seattle, Washington; Davis, California; Tucson, Arizona; Corvallis, Oregon; and Salt Lake City. It finished ahead of Boise, Idaho, and San Francisco, California. The complete list can be viewed online at sunset.com/travel/outdoor-adventure/biking-towns#biking-towns-fruita-co.
“This high-desert town on the southwestern edge of Colorado used to be recognized as an alternative to Moab within a select bunch of in-the-know mountain bikers. In the last few years, the town has taken center stage. Here, hundreds of miles of trails — from flowy singletracks to barely climbable grinders — stem from three main trail heads, all boasting epic canyon vistas,” the magazine wrote, later noting that Grand Junction and Palisade serve as nice complements to the community.
