Amal Clooney Steps Out of Her Fashion Comfort Zone in Red Corset

If it wasn’t already obvious from her workwear and appearances on the red carpet, Amal Clooney is a fan of fashion. The lawyer, and recent Vogue cover star, was out in New York for a party celebrating Glamour’s new editor-in-chief, Samantha Barry, and stepped out of her usual fashion comfort zone of tailored shifts and blazers.

Clooney wore a vintage red lace corset top by Isabelle Allard, which had a long lace train down the back. The 1980s design is, naturally, sold out, but it showed off Clooney’s willingness to have fun with fashion. She paired the top with skinny jeans and black ankle boots.

Clooney recently told Vogue that, despite her career as a high-profile lawyer, she enjoys playing around with style. Though she can get frustrated when the media pays more attention to what she’s wearing than her professional achievements.

“I hate the idea that you somehow, as a human being, have to be put in a box,” she said. “There’s no reason why lawyers can’t be fun—or actresses can’t be serious.”
