The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is always a hot spot for fashionistas sporting new trends. This year, glitter has replaced flower crowns — and kimonos and bathing suits are out in full force. It’s no wonder, festivalgoers have had beautiful weather here at the Empire Polo Field grounds and are free to wear pretty much whatever they want.

Here are the style trends we’re spotting on fashionistas at the festival.

1. Sheer skirts

Full-length sheer skirts — worn over a bathing suit, shorts or as a dress — are all over the festival grounds this year. Typically embroidered lace or mesh netting, these pieces keep you cool while still looking chic.

2. Kimonos

Keeping with the lace theme, these are also heat-friendly outfit additions that are adding a sophisticated element to bathing and body suits. Some are velvet, some are cotton — either way, they look good!

3. Fringe

If you thought fringe would be more popular at Stagecoach, you’d be right. However, it’s emerging as a trend at Coachella this year. From skirts to kimonos, the design adds a bit of flair to any outfit. Plus, they’re fun to shake while dancing to the music.

4. Facial glitter

Flower crowns have been replaced by facial glitter. It’s getting smeared on cheeks, and often complemented by jewels and rhinestones. Not sure why this is a thing, but it is. It also can be found in hair pigtails, parts, et cetera.

5. Romphims

OK, if you’ve never heard of a “romphim,” it’s a romper — for him. Get it? (Romp-her.) Numerous male fashionistas have been strutting their stuff in these one-pieces across the grounds. Go on with your bad selves!

6. Fake body tattoos

Also filed under: Why is this a trend? Either way, fake body tattoos in all sorts of ornamental designs are appearing on arms, legs, chests and any other body parts that are exposed.
