As the finish line approaches at Van Aken District, the ambitious mixed-use redevelopment project currently taking shape in Shaker Heights, we’re keeping a close eye on the food and drink options that will be such a vital aspect of the new town square. While we’re still a couple months out from the complete unveiling, we do know that when the District fully comes to life this summer, some familiar and not-so-familiar names will be attached.

Tomorrow (April 13), from 6 to 9 p.m., Bloom & Buzz will offer visitors a little taste of what’s to come. The casual block party will be held at the corner of Van Aken and Farnsleigh and feature food from future tenants like Jonathon Sawyer and Michael Schwartz. Schwartz will open one of his popular Genuine Pizza concepts, while Sawyer’s new restaurant is still in the concept development phase.

Also on hand for tomorrow’s event will be Mitchell’s Ice Cream. Two other confirmed future tenants, Restore Cold Pressed Juice and Rising Star Coffee Roasters, will not be participating in tomorrow’s event. Neighborhood favorites J. Pistone and Saffron Patch, however, will be.

A “Buzz Bar” will sell spring-themed libations and bands will be performing throughout.

The event is free and open to the public.
