Living Well: Harmony and purpose of a holistic lifestyle
Holistic means “all-encompassing.” Taking a holistic approach to life includes our personal and spiritual habits, our quality of health, our food choices, our use of energy and our environmental habits.
Our choices impact all of life: our work and business life, relationships, attitudes and how we participate in the world. Many people follow a path of discovery into the world of natural healing only when their health and wellness is threatened by a disease, or when they underperform physically.
The following questions are intended to stimulate thought and invite you to become aware of the benefits of a more holistic way of living.
Regarding your food and environmental habits:
TODAY’S SPONSOR:
Are you in sync with what you eat? Does it nourish and energize you?
Do you get tired after a meal?
Have you experienced a farmers market where vendors are the producers?
Are you aware of the quality difference of locally grown foods compared to those that travel thousands of miles?
Do you eat in season, when things are ripe in your area of the country?
Is organic just a word to you, and do you believe it makes no difference?
Do you do purchase more takeout meals than you prepare at home?
Are you aware of the processed nature of all restaurant ingredients?
Is nutrient-deficient and processed food your preference, such as fast foods, lunch meats, sliced cheese, canned foods and premade dinners? Do you read labels?
Do you know that artificial coloring and preservatives have a serious impact on your health and that of your children?
Are you aware that many snacks, crackers, cookies, etc., contain artificial flavors that are intended to make us want more?
Are you aware of how animal factory farms raise their animals?
Are you familiar with the superior pasture-raised concept, where animals are raised on natural foods in natural habitats?
Do you regularly contribute to the plastic pollution of our oceans and landfills?
Is recycling a habit for you, or is it all too much to bother with?
Most people choose foods without considering their effect on health. And many become aware of food choices only when their health fails.
To live in health and well-being, you should be intentional when choosing food: fresh, local and natural, and unspoiled by chemicals.
Ask these questions of your own personal and spiritual habits:
Do you feel comfortable in your personal and professional life?
Are you at ease with how you experience and resolve conflict?
Are there areas in relationships you could improve?
Do you take quality time for your loved ones? For yourself?
Are you stressed often, and does it negatively affect your energy and your health?
Do you often sacrifice for your family without regard to your own well-being?
Are there health imbalances that keep you locked into being less than 100 percent?
Do you have the comfort of a close friend to turn to?
Do you regularly experience inner peace and harmony?
Do you sleep peacefully and wake up refreshed?
Do you believe that the universe supports you in every way?
Do you regularly spend time laughing?
Are you OK with asking for help, and are you able to receive help from others?
Are you a healthy example to the next generation in how you manage your life?
