For a long time celebrity beauty brands hardly made a mark in the luxury world of beauty, mostly because they were seemingly mediocre, and not the high quality consumers expected of their beauty products. Today, the tables have turned. Celebrity beauty brands have been popping up with a fury in the U.S. and have earned newfound love from consumers all over the world. From Rihanna’s Fenty to Kylie Jenner’s always-sold-out lip kits and now Mariah Carey’s rumored beauty line, it seems like entering the beauty market has become a rite of passage for celebrities.

Similarly, in Asia, there have been a recent growth in the number of celebrities, influencers and entertainment industry bigwigs launching their very own beauty brand. From Indonesia to Korea and India, here are just some names to know in this burgeoning, billion-dollar industry.

J.One – Korea

One of their most popular products is the J.One Jelly Pack.

Often asked about her skincare routine, J.One is the brainchild of award-winning actress and Korean influencer, Ha Ji-Won. The entire concept around the brand consists of producing innovative multi-tasking products that are ideal for modern working women. Instead of piling on multiple steps in a beauty regime–typical of Korean beauty routines–Ha Ji-Won wanted to shave off time taken to prep the skin. So as an actress who had limited time on hand, she was well aware of the need for products that are just as effective but required lesser prep time. As a testament to the quality of her line, quickly enough, J.One reached cult status with fans all over the world. It’s even Sephora U.S.’s best-selling product.

BLP Beauty – Indonesia

Lizzie Parra

Indonesian influencer and founder of BLP Beauty, Lizzie Parra

While technically not a celebrity, BLP Beauty was founded by Indonesian YouTube beauty guru Lizzie Parra, who’s just as influential as any celebrity. The up-and-coming brand features a small but curated selection of liquid lipsticks, eyeshadows and brow products. Determined to disrupt the Indonesian market, the young brand sold around 10,000 pieces of their eight initial lip coat products in under two months of launching back in 2016. Now the company has moved offline to unveil a physical space, “Beauty Space by Lizzie Parra,” at Lotte Shopping Avenue in Jakarta. This online to offline move is in the hopes of capturing a greater piece of the consumer market–rightly so.

Lisa Haydon Naked – India

Lisa Haydon, an Indian supermodel, actress, entrepreneur and marathoner is often regarded as one of the most beautiful people around. Style Craze even placed her on a list of 50 Most Beautiful Women In The World. With the demands of her job and to constantly look put together, Haydon went on to launch a skincare line that helped to restore the skin’s condition and maintain it. Named “Naked,” the brand is marketed as all-organic in nature. Every product from this low-key line is handmade with natural ingredients, with their Overnight Elixir emerging as a fan favorite.

Moonshot – Korea

Backed by YG Entertainment–that counts K-pop groups BIGBANG and 2NE1 under their helm–Moonshot launched in Korea back in 2014. Since then, the cosmetic brand’s popularity has skyrocketed with many fans snapping up products the minute their favorite artist wears it. While the artists have largely been responsible for propelling the brand forward, it’s safe to say that the quality itself has lived up to the hype. It’s also worth noting that the brand partnered with Coson, the cosmetics R&D manufacturer behind some of Korea’s biggest beauty brands.
