Allison Raskin Suburban Femme Podcast 'Gossip' Sets Cast
EXCLUSIVE: Gossip, the 12-part fictional narrative podcast from New York Times bestselling author Allison Raskin has confirmed its cast as production ramps up for a June drop on the Stitcher network.
Joining Raskin are Victoria Rowell (The Young and The Restless, Dumb & Dumber), Beth Littleford (The Daily Show; Crazy, Stupid,Love), Lilan Bowden (Andi Mack), Peter Mackenzie (Black-ish), and Amanda Perez (Don Jon).
Raskin, a Scarsdale, NY native, knows plenty about suburbs having grown up in that New York City enclave, and Gossip follows three unlikely female friends who meet weekly to drink coffee and share the latest gossip floating around their not-so-traditional suburban town, Golden Acres. When the juicy stories involve infidelity, secret pasts and murder does it even matter if the rumors are true?
Raskin wrote the hit YA novel I Hate Everyone But You and is the co-host of the 100M-plus viewed YouTube channel Just Between Us. Anecdotally speaking and in full disclosure having improvised with her at UCB, she is a brilliant, quick-on-her-feet comedic talent with a knack for raising hilarious stakes in any situation that’s thrown at her. Raskin recently came off development deals with both FX and YouTube Red.
As exclusively reported by Deadline, Midroll Media, who has been behind such podcasts as Marc Maron’s WTF and The Bill Simmons podcast, signed Raskin back in December in one of the first for a fictionalized comedic soap opera podcast. The podcast series is executive produced by Matt Sadeghian with Jenny Radelet and Chris Bannon of Stitcher/Midroll. Allison is repped by Avalon Management and WME.
