The actress admitted she was still embarrassed by the viral meme, adding “I try really hard not to see myself online, but she was a little unavoidable.”

It turns out that Jennifer Garner is just as puzzled as most people online about her Oscars reaction that went viral. In the now infamous shot, Garner appears confused and disturbed while applauding during the award show.

The actress, who stars in the new movie Love, Simon, addressed the meme while visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday. After DeGeneres shared the meme with the audience, Garner covered her eyes and said, “I can’t even look at it. I can’t. It’s too embarrassing.” She then asked, “What am I doing?“

Garner shared that she learned about the viral moment after receiving many text messages asking what she was doing. “I try really hard not to see myself online, but she was a little unavoidable,” she said. After admitting that she has no recollection of the moment, she said, “I regret, regret, regret.”

“You do look disturbed,” DeGeneres told her guest. Garner once again made it clear that she does not remember what was happening in the moment the meme took place. “I want to just punch her in the face,” she added.

DeGeneres was disappointed to learn that Garner doesn’t have a story behind the moment. “I wish I did. I wish I had a better story about it. I mean, it might happen any minute. I might be sitting here and get be like,” Garner said as she stared into the audience and reenacted the famous expression.

While Garner certainly caught internet users’ attention with the Oscars meme, the actress is no stranger to having clips of her go viral. She also addressed a video from September following a visit to the dentist. In the clip shot by her assistant, she was moved to tears while telling a friend about her love for Hamilton after being put on laughing gas. “I’m a bit of a lightweight,” she said before the host shared the clip.

The video shows Garner on a phone call with her friend while the laughing gas was still in effect. “They did the sad part of Hamilton and I started crying and I couldn’t stop,” said on the call. The clip continues as Garner reiterates how beautiful the show is and explains how she tried to persuade the dental staff to see the musical.

“It was a good time for everyone,” Garner said of her experience at the dentist. The actress shared that she does stand by her reaction to the Tony-winning musical. “Hamilton really is that beautiful,” she said. She explained that she was listening to the musical’s soundtrack during the dental procedure, which likely inspired her emotional outburst later that day.
