'Willy Wonka' star Paris Themmen, aka Mike Teavee, makes surprise 'Jeopardy!' appearance
In Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Mike Teavee is the television-obsessed child who wins the Golden Ticket.
Actor Paris Themmen, who played Teavee in the 1971 film, fulfilled his character’s wildest TV dreams when he appeared on Jeopardy! Wednesday night.
Yet, when host Alex Trebek introduced Themmen to the audience as an “entrepreneur” and “avid backpacker,” chatting with him about how he’s hiked six out of the seven continents, he failed to mention his Hollywood past.
That didn’t get past some sharp-eyed viewers, who took to Twitter to discuss Themmen’s real claim to fame.
Why wouldn’t Paris Themmen mention those most amazing fact he had about himself:

I was making dinner in the kitchen, listening to Jeopardy when Alex Trebek started introducing contestants at the break. He said @ParisThemmen and I ran out saying MIKE TEEVEE !!! My wife thought I was nuts. Great job Paris!

Also, @ParisThemmen why talk about backpacking? Why wouldn’t you mention that when you were 11, you got invited to a chocolate factory in Germany and got split up in a million pieces then shrunk down to the size of a chocolate bar. Total missed opportunity if you ask me.

WBZ interrupted the opening of Jeopardy! so I didn’t get his name until Alex Trebek repeated it – it’s @ParisThemmen, Mike Teevee from Willy Wonka! pic.twitter.com/NNPUQ09hV0

Wait, did @Jeopardy not mention that contestant @ParisThemmen was in “Willy Wonka,” or did I miss it? It’s not every day that Mike Teevee is on TV! #Jeopardy

Per IMDb, Themmen’s last on-screen role came in the Star Trek: Voyager TV series in 2000, and he’s appeared in recent years as himself on Top Chef: Just Desserts and Cake Wars.
He ended his Jeopardy! run by coming in second place.
