Tim McGraw collapses during concert after being 'super dehydrated,' according to Faith Hill
Tim McGraw and Faith’s Hill concert in Dublin on Sunday night took a bit of an unsettling turn, as McGraw reportedly collapsed after he finished singing one of his biggest hits, “Humble and Kind.”
At some point, according to a video filmed by an audience member, Hill returned to the stage. The 50-year-old country stars, married for more than two decades, have been touring together for the last year.
“We’ve all been a little bit dehydrated traveling so much, and he’s been super dehydrated,” Hill said. “And I apologize, but I made the decision that he cannot come back out on stage.”
The crowd started cheering “Get well, Tim! Get well, Tim!” as Hill urged everyone to “drink water.”
After reports about McGraw started circulating online, the singer’s publicist released a statement: “Tim McGraw was suffering from dehydration in Dublin this evening at the C2C show. He was attended to by local medical staff on-site and will be fine. He and Faith thank everyone for their love and support and look forward to seeing their Irish fans again soon.”
McGraw and Hill were part of a large group of Nashville stars in Europe this weekend for the C2C: Country to Country music festival, which tours London, Glasgow and Dublin.
Onstage, in the closing minutes of the concert, Hill tried to think of a good way to end the unexpected evening. “Do you know another song? Is there one we can all sing together?” she mused. Fans yelled out ideas of McGraw’s songs, such as “Live Like You Were Dying,” “Down on the Farm” and “Don’t Take the Girl.” (The last suggestion prompted a “Me? Hell no,” from Hill.)
Eventually, she asked “Hey, do you guys like gospel music?” before singing part of “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Then she bid farewell to the crowd.
“Thank you so much Dublin, we’ll be back,” Hill said. “I promise you, we’ll be back. You were a great audience tonight, God bless you all.”
Dublin is listed as the husband-wife team’s last tour stop for awhile — they are scheduled to resume their tour on May 31 in Richmond.
