There's a 'Gossip Girl' Connection to the 'PLL' Spinoff and We're Even More Excited
Just when we thought we couldn’t be any more excited about the Pretty Little Liars spinoff that’s currently in the works, we’ve just gotten word that yet ANOTHER of a fave former shows, Gossip Girl, will now have a tie to the series thanks to its newest cast member.
In addition to Sasha Pieterse (AKA Alison DiLaurentis) and Janel Parrish (Mona Vanderwaal), who the new show will be centered on, as well as Sofia Carson, who will play the part of a fashion blogger named Ava, we’ll also be seeing several other familiar faces when the show, titled Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, hits the small screen.
The network has announced that Kelly Rutherford, who you just may recognize as Serena van der Woodsen’s mother, Lily, on GG, will be taking on a parental role once more as Claire Hotchkiss, the matriarch of the industrial Hotchkiss family, who pulls strings behind the scenes to get what she wants.
In addition to Rutherford, you may also recognize Sydney Park (formerly of The Walking Dead), who will be making her mark in Beacon Heights as a studious young woman named Caitlin who thrives under pressure.
Though there’s no premiere date for the show just yet, we’ve got enough details to keep us happy (for now), with showrunner I. Marlene King revealing to TV Line that we’ll definitely be some similarities to PLL. In example, the show will see a murder mystery drawing a group of friends closer (ringing any bells?).
Still, she said there’d also be some twists, spilling that not all of the new character’s would make it through to series’ end (gulp), and that we may be seeing a few *more* familiar faces (*cough, cough PLL guest appearances) in time as The Perfectionists goes on.
We, for one, can’t wait!
