Bon Jovi Perform Back-to-Back Hits & Accept Icon Award at iHeartRadio Music Awards
Bon Jovi continued their 2018 victory lap on Sunday night (March 11) at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, performing “It’s My Life” and “You Give Love a Bad Name” before receiving the Icon Award.
The appearance comes a week after Bon Jovi re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 with their 2016 album This House Is Not for Sale, thanks to a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer with the band’s upcoming U.S. arena tour. In addition to the No. 1 album, Bon Jovi is also gearing up to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month.
Given all those achievements, it made sense for Bon Jovi to bring two of their biggest bookend hits to the iHeart stage, starting with the defiant 2000 anthem “It’s My Life” and wrapping up with 1986’s “You Give Love a Bad Name,” sticking to rock ‘n’ roll basics as lights flooded the Forum stage.
Following the twofer of tunes, Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Shaun White returned to the stage to present the Icon Award to the legendary band.
“I want to thank the three and a half decades of fans that have been listening to Bon Jovi songs,” Jon Bon Jovi said while accepting the award. “We’ve been at this game a long time, and the only advice I’ll tell this incredible generation of incredible talent is just stay true to who you are and they’re gonna make you guys icons too someday.”
