Clarks Summit U. earns ranking

The university was ranked 24th among the 2018 Most Affordable Online Colleges Offering Master’s Degrees based on research by

OnlineU, a product of SR Education Group. OnlineU provides unbiased rankings based on such factors as affordability, accessibility and quality to help students find the best match.

U-Haul now offered in Plains Twp.

U-Haul Co. of Pennsylvania announced that Lou’s Auto Repair has signed on as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer to serve the Plains Twp. community. The business, at 510 N. Main St., will offer U-Haul trucks, trailers, towing equipment and moving supplies.

UGI volunteers aid fire safety project

Employee volunteers worked hand-in-hand with community volunteers, local fire companies and the American Red Cross throughout January performing activities associated with the Home Fire — Sound the Alarm program. Seventeen company employees helped install nearly 360 smoke alarms and helped hundreds of families complete a home fire safety checklist in four events throughout the month. Events were conducted in Reading, Wilkes-Barre, Carbondale and Laureldale.

Wilkes University presents award

The university honored Wilkes-Barre mechanical contractor Power Engineering Corp. as its 2017 Business Partner of the Year. The firm was among five finalists for the award, which was established to recognize partner organizations that demonstrate outstanding quality, value and service to the university.

Power Engineering was selected for its role in several recent university projects. Most notably, Power Engineering handled the design and construction of the mechanical systems in the university’s newest facility at 141 S. Main St., home to the Karambelas Media and Communication Center and the Sordoni Art Gallery.

Entrepreneurship celebrated

Wayne Pike Workforce Alliance and the Stourbridge Project Business Incubator celebrated rural entrepreneurship for National Entrepreneurship Week. The event, geared toward high school youth, highlighted the diversity of local entrepreneurs and how they are revitalizing the rural community.

Hospital offers

3-D mammography

Wayne Memorial Hospital’s has a new three-dimensional digital mammography system, the Senographe Pristina from GE. The digital breast tomosynthesis system can reconstruct a three-dimensional image from a single scan. It offers the same dose as 2-D mammography, armrests and rounded edges instead of hard-to-reach hand grips and sharp corners. Relaxed muscles help simplify positioning and compression and ultimately improve image quality, the hospital said in a press release.
