Jimmy Kimmel seemed tickled to bring up the “little surprise” he got from President Trump via Twitter Tuesday morning on his program later that night.
This year’s returning Oscar’s host read Trump’s tweet to his Jimmy Kimmel Live! viewers in which Trump couldn’t resist the opportunity to rib Hollywood.
“Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY,” the president’s tweet read. “Problem is, we don’t have Stars anymore — except your President (just kidding, of course)!”
“Of course he’s kidding,” Kimmel cracked. “He’s not narcissistic.”

The funnyman explained since he served as the show’s host, he felt it was his duty to respond, so he slammed Trump for his historically low approval rating. At 38% in October, Trump’s approval rating was the worst in modern times for a president at the nine-month mark of his presidency.
“I tweeted to him, ‘Thanks, lowest rated President in HISTORY,’ ” Kimmel said, adding that his tweet has received many more likes than the president’s.
Kimmel continued, calling Trump’s issue with the Academy Awards surprising as he predicted No. 45 would’ve loved best picture winner The Shape of Water.
“The movie, if you haven’t seen it, it’s about a monster that has sex with a woman who can’t talk about it,” Kimmel joked, alluding to adult film star Stormy Daniels who allegedly had a sexual relationship with the president and admitted to having a “hush” agreement to cover up their supposed relationship. “Basically, it’s like his life story, right? On the screen.”
