W-B General earns two designations
The hospital has been designated a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology.
This designation is a voluntary program that recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer.
In order to receive this elite distinction, facilities must be accredited by the ACR in computed tomography in the chest module, as well as undergo a rigorous assessment of its lung cancer screening protocol and infrastructure. Also required are procedures in place for follow-up patient care, such as counseling and smoking cessation programs.
The bariatric surgical center at the hospital has been accredited as a designated center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, a joint program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
FNCB Bank makes donation to college
The bank recently presented a $2,500 Educational Improvement Tax Credit donation to Lackawanna College to benefit the school’s ongoing EITC programs.
Lackawanna College has been designated as an Educational Improvement Organization by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania for providing innovative educational programs to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
Eye care clinic holds ribbon cutting
Dr. Frank Dzwieleski and Dr. Matthew Corso, Family Eye Care of NEPA, opened their new location Feb. 22 at 3319 Lake Ariel Highway, just a quarter-mile south of the current office.
Over the past five years, the practice has experienced rapid growth in its Honesdale and Dingmans Ferry locations.
The new facility is a 6,000-square-foot, modern eye care clinic with more than double the exam rooms of the current location, state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and a brand new optical area. The new clinic will allow for improved efficiencies in scheduling and access to routine services.
Wayne Bank donates $15K to libraries
The bank supported the seven public libraries of Wayne County with a donation through the Educational Improvement Organization Program in 2018.
Wayne County Public Library Director Tracy L. Schwarz accepted a check in the amount of $15,000.
The gift was made possible as a result of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program offered by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, acting through the Department of Community and Economic Development.
Hotel recognized by Knot weddings
The Radisson at Lackawanna Station hotel in Scranton has been selected as a 2018 winner in the Knot Best of Weddings, an award representing the highest-rated wedding professionals as reviewed by real couples, their families and wedding guests on the Knot, the leading online wedding brand and app. This is the second consecutive year that the hotel has been selected for the Knot Best of Weddings.
Dime Bank donates to scholarships
The bank donated $22,000 to support scholarship funding at several schools, including Vineyard Christian Child Center, Canaan Christian Academy, Damascus Christian Academy, St. Dominic’s Academy, Scranton Hebrew Day School and Diocese of Scranton Catholic Schools Tuition Assistance Program. Many families who wish to send their children for an education that supports their spiritual and educational goals, but do not have the economic means to do so, have benefited from the various scholarship programs.
Chimney company receives certification
Olympia Chimney Supply Inc. has qualified for OSHA’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program. Over the course of 16 months, Olympia worked diligently with OSHA officials to correct all identified issues, which initially started with physical changes to the equipment and, in some cases, complete equipment upgrades. This effort led to instituting formal policies, standard operating procedures and direct training programs, with input collected from every operator.
